Progress report

August 4 to August 10

Monday a Cleveland Plain Dealer reporter came to Ted's house to gather information for a newspaper article that was printed Thursday August 7. We cut off the excess mast to match the short sail. We messed with the seat and accommodations for the porta-potty. Arlene's brother Chris began polishing one of the crankshafts so the bearings would fit properly. At 1:15 Channel 3 (NBC affiliate) news reporter Monica Robins did an interview that was aired on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Tuesday...discussed gear with Ted...bought bits and pieces for the boat Chris brought the polished crankshaft back...
Wednesday we went to Ted's at ten a.m. and worked on the drilling and milling of the blocks that hold the bearings to the frame. Arlene and I finished assembling the second aluminum paddlewheel. We completed installing the masthead on the shortened mast. Ted's prayers were answered when a local business man offered to donate a handheld marine radio after hearing of our mission on the TV news.
Thursday morning we drove to Cleveland for a WDOK radio interview with Jim McIntyre which will be aired at 7 a.m. August 17. (the day we launch) Then, it was back to Ted's to continue work on the bearing mounts. Friday (today) we were back to Home Depot for more parts. Ted worked on the seat mounts and we finished the bearing mounts. This evening we went to Cleveland to visit Arlene's friend Shirley and finally were able to get file transfer working on a local number, so I am now busily entering updates to the website. Excuse the spelling. I am using wordpad to update the HTML code......Stay tuned
Saturday we had a preliminary meeting with a Fox news reporter for a couple of hours in preparation for filming on Tuesday. Sunday we rested and attended a family picnic.
